We start today towards to inner part of the Annapurna region land, so we continue our trail. Today, a surprise package of the trek opens. The next day, long before dawn breaks, we headed on an early morning hike to Poon Hill which is the famous viewpoint known for its beautiful sunrise. The 45-minute-long climb is well worth the stunning view over the Annapurna, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges in all shades of yellow, just as the sun starts to get up. Having captured these unforgettable moments, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast. The trail goes through the dense forests of oak and rhododendron where one can observe a lot of birdlife. We will reach Tadapani after 4/5 hours of trekking through the dense forest with Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) framed in a dramatic mountain view.

We have early morning breakfast and then trek downhill through the lush forest followed by the paddy-terraced field to Ghandruk a charming Gurung village. When is the best Time to Travel & Weather Conditions:

When it comes to the best season for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, is during the two peak seasons of spring (March- May) and autumn( September – November). During this time, the skies are clear with pleasant temperatures and relatively stable weather conditions for trekking. If you want to trek tea season in Nepal then the best time is from March – May and September- November. Above may be dangerous due to monsoon whereas winter December- February will be too cold, with snow-covered paths floor.

Meals and Drinking Water:

On the trek, you will be able to get food at an effective price in teahouses and lodges which include dal bhat (rice and lentils), noodles, soups as well as some fast foods. Ellyware is exempt from the above because it provides vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. You can buy bottled water, but we suggest you bring your reusable bottle and some water purifying tabs or a filtered canteen to top off at streams while hiking.

Stay During the Trek :

The journey is along the good condition road (with a bit bumpy and some places under construction) and drives through mountainous hills giving you a truly stunning scenic view of nature, countryside & villages in between the Kathmandu – Pokhara highway drive. The road from Pokhara to Nayapul is paved, but in some parts, it may be narrower and curved. Travel by land means either private Car/Bike or public bus in which 6-8 hours is the travel time from Kathmandu to Pokhara and a driving distance of 2 hrs. an hour away while going from Pokhara up to Nayapul(southern start point for Annapurna Base Camp Trek)

Trekking Difficulties:

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a moderate trek that can easily be done by anyone, even if this would bear his first time trying hands to set foot on a mountain. There are just some mild climbing and descending with clear paths, and many little rest spots on the way. The altitude on this trek is not as high as some of the others but you may still suffer from an acclimatization problem so keep hydrated.
