Overview

If you are short on time but want to experience the wilderness and culture of Nepal, Bardiya Jungle Safari is the ideal choice. Located in the southeast, this immersive journey deepens into Nepal’s least explored National Parks. Unlike the more frequent Chitwan Jungle Safari, Bardiya National Park is less crowded and gaining popularity among wildlife enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

Bardiya National Park is the largest wildlife sanctuary in the Terai region covering 968 sq. km. Situated 585 km from Kathmandu and 95 km from Nepalgunj Airport, Bardiya was established as a National Park in 1988 A.D.

Home to over 55 different species of mammals, 438 species of birds, 125 species of fish, and 25 other species of reptiles, Bardiya National Park is a sanctuary for some of the world’s rarest animals. Spot the wildlife such as the Bengal Tiger, one-horn Rhino, wild Asian elephant, Swamp deer, grey wolf, leopard cat, four- horned Antelope, pangolin, river dolphin, or Asian gigantic dolphin, and monitor lizard during jungle safari.

Bardiya Jungle Safari Tour offers not only a rich wildlife and nature experience but also an authentic culture of the Tharu community. Stay at a Tharu homestay to immerse yourself in their vibrant culture, witness the traditional Tharu dance, and enjoy authentic Tharu cuisine.

Bardiya Jungle Safari is a surreal experience, blending natural wilderness with a rich culture far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Bardiya Jungle Safari tour cost

The Bardiya Jungle Safari tour costs approximately $800 per person for 2 nights 3 days. The cost varies depending on factors like transportation, meals, standard of accommodation, duration, and other extra activities and services during the jungle safari.

If you want to extend the tour to 3 nights 4 days, the cost is around $ 950 per person. And, for those who have a group, the cost can be minimized.

Elephant Safari or Jeep Safari in Bardiya National Park

We recommend Jeep Safari in Bardiya National Park rather than Elephant Safari. As it is one of the largest sanctuary areas of the Terai region, Bardiya’s dense forest is better suited to a jeep safari, allowing you to cover more ground and explore the park in greater dep

At Overland Trek Nepal, we are mindful of animal rights and prioritize the well-being of wildlife. For a safer and more responsible experience, we encourage guests to opt for a jeep safari instead of an elephant safari.

When is the best time to do a Jungle safari in Nepal?

The best time to do a Jungle Safari in Bardiya National Park is from October to June. During this month, the dry weather conditions increase the possibility of seeing wildlife as animals gather around water sources.

While Bardiya National Park is open all year, visiting between October and June offers the highest chances of close wildlife encounters and a more enjoyable safari experience in comfortable weather conditions. Plan your trip during these months to make the most of Nepal’s incredible biodiversity.
