The tour takes you to the place where King still exists and rules over this small kingdom of Mustang. Our 12-day Upper Mustang Overland Bike Tour takes you to an altitude of 3800 meters.

The Upper Mustang is a Restricted Region of Nepal closer to the Tibetan Border. It requires a special restricted permit card to embark on this Upper Mustang Motorcycle Tour. Following the Annapurna Circuit Trekking route for a few days, this tour will lead you to the hidden gem of the Mustang Region. However, for a remarkable tour experience, riders need to have a good set of riding skills through the highway of the Annapurna Himalayas.

The motorbike tour to Mustang starts with Kathmandu's busy streets heading to Pokhara through the countryside highway. Then from Pokhara, the ride will continue passing the world’s deepest gorge, Kali Gandaki Gorge, and the heartwarming views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. A religious visit to the famous Muktinath Temple will bring Spiritual vibes along the journey. Next, the tour moves ahead to Lho Manthang, Tatopani, and back to Pokhara to conclude the trip.

Essential Information

Nepal Visa Procedure

If you are planning your next adventure in Nepal for a Bike Tour, you will need at least 2 weeks. Hence, you must get a visa for at least 15 days. In Nepal applying visa is very easy. Either you can apply online or get it after arriving at Kathmandu airport. 15 day “On Arrival” visa costs you USD 30 per person. Make sure you have validation of at least 6 months on your passport to get a visa.

Travel Insurance for Biking Tour

We suggest our riders get quality insurance that covers all the risks during the mountain biking tour. Moreover, make sure it covers the high altitude above 5000 meters and the rescue evacuation and other accident bills. Good travel insurance gives you the freedom to enjoy your Biking Tours in Nepal without any stress.

Responsible Tourism during the tour

Most of the travelers choose trekking to Upper Mustang who can’t ride the motorbike. Hence, during the tour, riders must respect the trekkers and ride responsibly while passing by trekkers or local people. Likewise, please do not horn unnecessarily and respect the religious places and monasteries during the trip.

Meals and Accommodation

Meals during the tour in Upper Mustang are served by the teahouses. The best available breakfast meals during this trip are Oatmeals, cornflakes, muesli, porridge, Toast, Tibetan Bread, Boiled eggs, and hot drinks. Similarly, for Lunch & Dinner, Pizza, Fried Noodles, sandwiches, Momos, Spaghetti, Potato Dishes, Daal Bhat, Spring Rolls, etc. are available.

The Teahouses along the journey are very basic and clean. Local people offer you these places to relax, spend an overnight, and take your meals. They have twin bed-sharing facilities, internet, and a hot shower. However, for internet access and a hot shower, they charge you extra cost. Also, some teahouses don’t have attached bathrooms.

Do teahouses provide drinking water and electricity facilities?

Most teahouses provide electricity facilities to charge your gadgets like mobile and camera. However, they will charge an extra cost for this facility around $2-5 per person. Likewise, drinking water is also available in all teahouses either filter one or a mineral bottle. However, we suggest using a filter and boiled water to minimize plastic bottles in the mountains.

Best time to do a Biking Tour in Nepal

Just like trekking, this Upper Mustang Bike Tour can be done during the spring and autumn season. However, even in monsoon season Upper Mustang receives less rainfall. It is suitable to ride a motorcycle in the Upper Mustang. Nevertheless, in lower regions highways can be slippery and muddy. Hence, better to do it in the months of spring and autumn season.
