Route Summary for Budget-Friendly Annapurna Circuit Trek

The budget-friendly Annapurna Circuit Trek starts early at 7 AM in Kathmandu. The journey begins with a 6- to 7-hour bus ride following the Prithivi Highway alongside the Trishuli River and then the Marshyandi River from Dumbre to Besisahar. The next day, the journey continues early, around 8:00 AM, with a 4- to 5-hour jeep drive to Chame (2,670m), where the actual trek begins.

Start the trek following the flat trail to Dhukur Pokhari and then gradually ascend towards Upper Pisang (3,300m) for a night's stay. Continue the trek through the pine forest, passing serene Green Lake before ascending towards Ghyaru (3,670m). From here, the trek heads towards Nagwal (3,657m) and then to Braga Village (3,400m), passing through dense pine forests. Afterward, the trek proceeds to Manang (3,519m), where you'll stay another day to acclimate your body to high altitudes.

On your rest day, hike to the Chongkor viewpoint, visit the nearby Gangapurna Lake, and explore the village of Manang. From there, continue trekking along the Annapurna Circuit route towards Yak Kharka, then to Thorong La Phedi, passing through alpine Himalayan pastures.

The following day, rise early before dawn to cross the challenging Thorong La Pass (5416m), the highest pass in the world. The 4-hour climb to the Thorong La Pass offers breathtaking views of the natural landscapes and mountain peaks, including Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Gangapurna (7455m), Tilicho Peak (7134m), Thorong La Peak (6144m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Annapurna South (7219m).

Today, you mark the first foot on the Annapurna Circuit Trek route. Starting at 7 AM with breakfast, the trek begins at 8 AM. From Chame, the trek follows the flat trail along the Marshyandi River, witnessing spectacular natural landscapes. Crossing the suspension bridge, the trail passes through the pine forest before reaching Dhukur Pokhari for lunch.

After the hearty lunch, the trek heads towards Upper Pisang, crossing the wooden bridge and following the Himalayan meadows.

Pisang is divided into two parts: Lower Pisang and Upper Pisang. We chose Upper Pisang for breathtaking panorama views of mountains such as Annapurna II (7,937 m), Pisang Peak (6,091 m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983 m).

Leaving Upper Pisang, follow the flat trail inside the pine forest, eventually leading to serene Green Lake. Take a quick break at this beautiful lake and capture some moments with your camera.

Afterwards, continue the trek and cross the suspension bridge before ascending towards Ghyaru Village(3670m). After 2 hours of challenging uphill, witness the spectacular views of mountain peaks such as Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV(7525m), Gangapurna(7455m), and Pisang Peak(6091m). Along with the view, explore the local monastery and immerse yourself in the local culture and lifestyle.

Then, after the trail leads through the flat trail to Nagwal(3657m), you will enjoy a delicious lunch. Following lunch, the trail slightly descends and follows the flat trail inside the pine forest to Braga village(3400m). This small village, before Manang, offers one of the oldest monasteries, Braga Monastery, which is around 600 years old.

Walk alongside the river for 45 minutes to reach Manang for a night's stay.

Wake up at 7 AM, enjoy breakfast, and start a trek at 8 AM. Compared to other days, the trek is short and easy. It takes 4-5 hours to reach Thorong La Phedi, and the trail is almost flat.

Starting from the Yak Kharka, the trek continues along the Annapurna Circuit Trekking route towards Ledar(4200m). Take a short break and continue the trek, heading through the flat trail along the Himalayan pastures and witnessing the breathtaking natural landscapes. Although the trek is brief, it's not easy to walk above 4000m. It is advisable to walk at a slow pace and drink enough water.

Upon reaching the Thorong La Phedi, you can take a short hike to adjust your body to the local environment.

Following breakfast, the hike to the trek's highest point begins early, around 4 AM. The trail is challenging at an altitude of 5000m and above, so walking slowly and steadily and drinking enough water is advisable.

Along the way, witness the beautiful sunrise over the mountains. After the challenging 3-4 hours of walking, you'll reach the top of Thorong La Pass.
