Is it possible for beginners to do the 12-Day Everest Base Camp Trek?
Yes, beginners can complete the Everest Base Camp Trek, but it comes with some challenges, especially due to the high altitude. Though the EBC trek doesn’t need technical climbing skills and the trail is well-established, it involves high altitudes above 5000 meters. Trekking at this altitude is challenging, as altitude increases, the oxygen level significantly drops, which can lead to altitude sickness.
But with proper preparation and acclimatization, the EBC trek is doable for beginners. Choose an itinerary that allows you to rest properly and adjust to the altitude.
Even though it is possible for beginners to do the EBC trek, we don’t recommend it for those looking for a budget-friendly trek. Due to high altitude risks, it can be more costly if emergencies arise. For beginners, before attempting Everest Base Camp, we recommend considering less risky and more budget-friendly routes such as Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, Langtang Valley Trek, or Mardi Himal Trek.
