Nepal Visa Information

Nepal offers a simple and flexible visa process, welcoming travelers from around the world with easy access to tourist visas. Here’s a full guide on obtaining a Nepal visa for foreign nationals, Indian citizens, and travelers from other Asian countries, including the required documents for each category.

Visa for Foreign Nationals

Foreign travelers can get a Nepal visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu and various border entry points. Visa options are available for 15 days (USD $30), 30 days (USD $50), and 90 days (USD $125). Travelers from certain African and Middle Eastern countries must apply in advance, as they are ineligible for visas on arrival.

Documents Required for Foreign Nationals:

  • Valid passport with at least six months of validity and one blank page.
  • Completed visa application form (available online or at entry points).
  • Two recent passport-sized photos.
  • Cash in USD or local currency to pay the visa fee.
  • For eVisa applicants: confirmation of the approved online application.

Visa for Indian Citizens

Indian nationals do not need a visa to enter Nepal due to the India-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship. Indian citizens only need to present a valid ID at the entry points. Accepted forms of ID include:

  • Valid passport or voter ID.
  • PAN card is not accepted for entry.

Visa for Other Asian Nationals (SAARC Countries)

Nepal provides a 30-day free visa for nationals from SAARC countries (e.g., Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka) on their first visit each year. For subsequent visits, regular visa fees apply.

Documents Required for SAARC Nationals:

  • Passport with at least six months of validity.
  • Visa application form.
  • One recent passport-sized photo.
  • Sufficient funds to pay for subsequent visas if required.

Additional Visa Information

Visa Extensions are available for those wishing to extend their stay, costing about $3 per day. Extensions can be done at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Be cautious, as overstaying can result in penalties.
