Nepal has four distinct seasons such as spring, summer, autumn and winter and there are two season which is mostly preferred as best season to trek in Nepal . Nepal is divided into three regions: Terai Region, Hilly Region and Himalaya Region. Firstly, Terai Region lies in the southern part of the country and basically has hot and humid climate which can rise up to 45 degrees Celsius. Secondly, Hilly Region is the pleasant throughout the year. Lastly Himalaya Region, around an altitude above 3000 meters and has an alpine climate and low temperature during the winter season.
Firstly, Spring which last from March to May which is warm with rain showers and temperature around 22 degrees Celsius. This season most preferred for trekking as Rhododendrons (National flower of Nepal) are in complete blossom around the mountain regions.
Secondly, Summer which last from June to August is the monsoon season with temperature up to 30 degrees Celsius which makes difficult to trek during this season. Because, the trails for trekking being very muddy makes difficult to trek.
For forest researchers and botanist this time is the best for them. During this trek it is highly required to carry raincoat and insect repellents. This season provides the more suitable trek in rain shadow area like Upper Mustang, around Annapurna etc. These regions can be trek during this season because this region lies out of reach of rain clouds because of huge mountains and re unaffected by the monsoon.
Thirdly autumn, it last from September to November. Basically this is the popular season for trekking because the temperatures are not too warm around 25 degrees Celsius and the night is cool of 10 degrees Celsius. Usually it doesn’t rain during this season. On this season you will get amazing views of mountains. All the trekking routes will be very busy on this season.
Lastly winter, from December to February which is cold at night with temperature below zero. However in the mountains the maximum temperature can reach up to 20 degrees Celsius. During this season it is still suitable for trekking and hiking at lower altitudes under 3000 meter high.
