The trek to the Manaslu region is through an off-the-beaten trail. It was opened not long ago for tourists, which clarifies why there are fewer trekkers on this route. Moreover, it is a restricted area as well. To preserve nature and culture, the Manaslu region is declared a restricted region. Similarly, the villages and the trail are remote and unique. The trail is not the same as ABC Trek or Annapurna Circuit Trek.
The Short Manaslu Base Camp Hike holds ancient and cultural significance. Whereas, Annapurna Trek has its charm with natural elegance. Annapurna Circuit Trek is easy to do compared with Manaslu Base Camp Trek. This is because the trail passes through several terrains in the Manalsu. However, you must have excellent health with physical preparation to complete both of these treks. Likewise, the local ethnic groups from Annapurna Trek and Manaslu Base Camp Trek are different. You will find Nurbi and Tsum people in Manalsu. Whereas, in Annapurna, you will meet the Magar and Gurung ethnic groups.
The Larkya La Pass is the most challenging yet popular pass among trekkers. Crossing the pass at 5100 meters is the highest point of this trek. However, the starting part of the pass is quite difficult to climb. The trail can test your strength and endurance during the climb. But, the views from the Larkya La Pass are outstanding. You can feel a sense of achievement once you cross the Larkya La Pass.
The trail in the Manaslu is excellent for solitude lovers. There are fewer tourists on this trail than on other trekking routes in Nepal. It is because of the restrictions by the government and less popularity. However, the trek takes you close to the natural serenity and its charm. It allows you to witness the beauty of nature closely. The trail is not as crowded as EBC Trek, ABC Trek, or Annapurna Circuit Trek.
The other reason to embark on this trekking trail is the local people and their warm hospitality. All the local people welcome you with warm Greetings by doing “Namaste”. Moreover, their hospitality is always heart-melting. In addition, notice their local way of greeting you by saying “Tashi Delek”. It means “Joyful to meet you”.
The Manaslu Base Camp Hike is one of the scenic trekking trails of Nepal. It offers jaw-dropping views of towering peaks, waterfalls, rivers, Hills, and local villages. You will walk through the base of the mountains throughout the trek. Hence, during the trek, you will get to see Manalsu, Samdo Peak, Larke Peak, Himlung Himal, Ngadi Chuli, Buddha Himal, Siring Himal, and many more. Likewise, cherish the beauty of stunning landscapes below the peaks.
The adventure begins with a beautiful scenic drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola. Then, crossing Sotikhola, the walk starts through the dense forests. Next, crossing the suspension bridges and ascending the ridges, Deng arrives. Upon reaching Deng, get to see the snow-clad mountains in the sight. Similarly, leaving Deng, another beautiful village, Namrung, offers great views of Ganesh Himal and HImalchuli. Likewise, the trek continues from Namrung and takes you to Samagaun, Samdo, and Dharmashala. The next adventure awaits while crossing Larkya La Pass (5100m). Enjoy the amazing views of surrounding peaks from the Pass. Next, crossing the pass, you will reach Bhimthang, Tilije, Chyamche, and lastly Bhulbhule. The ending point is Bhulbhule, from where you will take the public Jeep back to Kathmandu.
The weather at Manaslu Base Camp depends on the time you are trekking. If you are trekking in the spring and autumn, the weather remains the best. Spring and autumn are the best time to get the best mountain views ever.
However, in the winter is it freezing at the base Camp. The trail is covered by full of snow in most of the Manalsu region. Moreover, local people close their tea houses during winter to avoid the cold. In addition, the weather in the Monsoon season (June-August) is very risky.
