Mera Peak is a high-altitude climbing peak in the Mahalangur section in the north-most part of the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal. The highest trekking peak consists of three summits Mera Central (6,476 meters), Mera North (6,476 meters), and Mera South (6,065 meters). Although difficult the 18-day Mera Peak Climbing trip is a non-technical adventure climb and is suitable for both expert and inexperienced climbers. Mera Peak is the peak for you if you are a beginner climber searching for a high-altitude challenge and your first Himalayan summit.

Can we Climb the Mera Peak easily?

The Mera Peak Climb is suitable for those wishing to climb their first Himalayan peak, retracing the steps of the famous climbers Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. All you need is high-altitude experience and a good degree of physical to scale the Mera Peak.

Entry Permits & Requirements:

The following Permits are required for your Mera Peak Climbing  

  1. Makalu Barun National Park Entry Permit.
  2. Khumbu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit
  3. Mera Peak Climbing Permit.

The Makalu Barun National Park Entry Permit costs NRS 3000 and may be acquired from the Nepal Tourism Board’s office in Kathmandu or Kothe. The charge for nationals of SAARC nations is NRS 1500. You must complete the permit application and present your passport or a copy of your passport.

You must fill out an application for permission and show your passport or a copy of your passport. To obtain the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit, you must be in Lukla. The permit costs NRS 2000 and can be obtained at the rural municipality counter on the settlement’s outskirts.

If you want to hike from Jiri, you’ll need to pay NRS 2,000 at the Gaurishanker Conservation Area Project Entry Permit or you must receive a permit from the Nepal Tourism Board’s headquarters in Kathmandu.

Individual trekkers can acquire trekking permits, however government-registered trekking firms can only receive climbing permits, to obtain a climbing permit, one must be scheduled with a licensed agency.

The climbing permit fee for Mera Peak depends on the season you make the ascent.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 meters /4592 feet)

The flight into Kathmandu with a panoramic view of the valley below and the Himalayan ranges towering above is stunning. Once you land and check out from the Tribhuvan International Airport our agent will greet and welcome you, and drive you to your hotel then you will do a chill in the evening.

Day 2: Kathmandu: Trek Preparation

Today you’ll be introduced to your climbing guide, after a brief introduction by the guide about general guidelines and the final equipment check for the trek if there is missing you will go shopping, and you’ll have the rest of the day to yourself, by evening you will be taken to Nepali Restaurant to have tricycle Nepali Thali set which will be a different test.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,840m/9,318ft) and trek to Paiya (2,730m/8,956ft)

You will wake up early morning to be ready to move airport when your guide arrives, he will
take you to the airport, to catch the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the flight is breathtaking as
you witness vistas of endless Himalayan ranges. The Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla is located
on a high alpine plateau with steep slopes surrounding it, flying between the mountains and
landing on the tiny and narrow airstrip is exhilarating, upon landing Meet with the rest of the
the crew in Lukla, after a brief break, start your trek to Paiya.

Day 4: Trek to Panggom from Paiya (2,846/9,337ft)

Will wake up early morning have your breakfast, and then move for the trek. The path
winds its way through traditional farms, terraced fields, and lush sub-tropical woods and crosses
the Paiya Khola a tiny watercourse from here follows the trail to the mountain pass of Khari La,
before reaching the little Sherpa town of Panggom.

Day 5: Trek to Ramailo Danda (3,276m/10,748ft)

Leave Panggom after an early breakfast and head towards Ramailo Danda through the settlement
of Ningsow the route leads to Pankongma La another mountain pass at an elevation of
3,174 meters, the point where the Dudh Koshi River Valley and the Hingku Valley meet,
continue on a gentle rise to Ningsow, where you will have your lunch. after lunch, hike to Ramailo
Danda your stop for today. Then chill your day.

Day 6:Trek to Chhatra Khola (2,800m/9,186ft)

After your breakfast will move out for the trip, today’s trail takes you through Makalu Barun
National Park and deep woodlands, as there are no teahouses along the way you’ll be having a
packed lunch. Makalu Barun is home to various species of exotic flora and fauna so keep an eye
on you could see the red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan Tahr, musk deer, pale blue flycatcher,
spiny babbler, and many more, follow the Pasang Lhamu route to Chhatra Khola your
destination for today, when you reach there will take rest for while then just move out for a short
hike, walk around which will help to get a nice sleep.

Day 7 :Trek to Kothe (3,691m/12,109ft)

Wake up early in the morning then have your breakfast and head north along the Majhang Khola,

the opposite side of the river, after that following an up-and-down trail to Kothe, your overnight

Day 8:Trek to Thaknak (4,358m/14,297ft)

After your breakfast you will move out for the trek, today’s trail consists of magnificent views of
Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, Charpati Himal, and Thamserku from various angles,
moved on from Kothe to the Upper Hinku Valley from where the tree line vanishes and the
vegetation gets scarce, there are no significant settlements in this area of the valley and is
densely packed with charkas (nomadic yak herders’ grazing camps), arrive at Gondishung after a
a short walk, where you will stop for some refreshments. Thaknak kharka, is about an hour’s walk
from here where newly built teahouses offer food and shelter to trekkers and climbers heading to
Mera Peak. when you reach your today destination take a rest for a while then just move out
for a short hike, and walk around which will help to get a nice sleep.

Day 9: Trek to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft)

Thaknak is a short hike from Khare, after your early morning breakfast, you will pass by
Charpati Tal is a glacial lake, after climbing up the Dig Glacier and heading down to Dig Kharka. The
views of Kyeshar glacier, Charpati Himal, and Mera Peak are breathtaking, from here a hard
ascend through the Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers and lead to Khare.
Mera Peak Base Camp is also known as Khare, and is located at the base of Mera Peak, there are
a few teahouses in the area, explore the nearby region or relax once you reach Khare.

Day 10: At Khare: Acclimatization Day and Pre-Climb Training

Today is your day for acclimation and pre-climb training, final equipment, and gear inspection

Khare provides you with high-quality gear and equipment.
When you have done your morning breakfast you will get a brief orientation on how to use your
climbing equipment and fundamental tactics on how to ascend the peak which is crucial and

Day 11: Trek to Mera High Camp (5,780m/18,958ft)

Early in the morning leave Khare after your warm breakfast, and ascend steeply up a rocky route
to Mera La. Mera Peak’s three summits are visible from the trail: Mera North (6,476m), Mera
Central (6,461m), and Mera South (6,065m), you’ ll be summiting the central peak.
Head up to the Mera glacier and high camp at Mera Peak, which doesn’t have any technical
climbing and is a short hike up a gentle hill, although due to the height and temperature, the
the walk may become tough and difficult, trekking at an altitude of almost 5,000 meters take it slow
and head towards the high camp where you’ ll be staying for the night.
The five tallest peaks in the world, Mount Everest (8,848m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m), Lhotse

Day 12: Summit Mera Peak (6,461m/21,1907ft) and descend to Khare (5,045m/16,547ft)

Today’s hike is tough, you will need to get up around 2, after a light meal preparation for the push
towards the summit, ready all your equipment and gears and follow the guide over the open
glacier in a rhythmic walk it’s a non-technical uphill hike with a moderate ascent, while the
the terrain is straightforward, you will be slowed by the altitude and the bitter mountain cold, use of
fixed ropes and clamps may be required to reach the summit.
By late morning., you will reach the summit of Mera Peak from here enjoy breathtaking views of
the world’s five tallest mountains: Mount Everest (8,848 meters), Kanchenjunga (8,586 meters),
Lhotse (8,516 meters), Makalu (8,481 meters), and Cho Oyu (8,481 meters) (8,201m).
After spending some time at the summit, return to High Camp, after lunch, descend quickly from
Mera High Camp and hike back to Khare.
As, you will have a long and exhausting day when you get to the teahouse, relax and celebrate.

Day 13: Contingency Day for Summit

If your summit attempt on Day 12 is canceled due to severe weather or illness, this extra day has
been set aside for summiting, this day can also be used in the case of an emergency, such as
airline delays or other unanticipated situations that force us to cancel a day of your vacation.
If all goes according to plan, the additional day may be used to take it easy and explore more of
the path. Alternatively, you might spend the additional day tour in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Trek to Kothe (3,600m/11,808ft)

Today head from Khare to Kothe after your delicious breakfast, along dense woodland as the
the route is obscured by an extensive canopy of vegetation, there are no views of the mountains,
follow the trail down to the Hinku Valley and arrive at Kothe.

Day 15: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4,300m/14,107ft)

After your early morning breakfast from Kothe, you'll start hiking across the Hinku Valley's

Day :17Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu (1,400 meters /4,592 feet)

After your early morning breakfast, you will be ready to fly to Kathmandu according to your
guide. The scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu is always a delight, flying parallel to the
world’s highest peaks and once you arrive at Kathmandu, you will be driven to your
accommodation. Take a break or go souvenir shopping.
In the evening, a special cultural program and a farewell dinner will be served to commemorate
the end of your journey.

Best Time to Travel & Weather Condition:

Spring (March to May) and autumn (mid-September to November) are the best times for Mera Peak Climbing. In spring, the foothills are ablaze with wildflowers, rhododendron blossoms, and orchids hanging from branches, the weather is dry and clear during this season, making it ideal for trekking and exploring the breathtaking scenery of the mountains. In autumn after the end of the heavy monsoon season, with a clear atmosphere and the days are warm though the evenings are quite chilly Mera Peak Climbing is extremely popular.

The trails, however, become crowded and busy during these peak seasons. During the climbing season, the Base Camp is transformed into a tented city, with climbers and Sherpa guides.

If you travel during October, you’ll be able to attend Mani Rimdu, the Everest region’s most important festival, which brings together pilgrimage from Tengboche, Chiwong, and Thame monasteries.

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is required for all clients participating in any activity. Passport and Visa:

The Nepalese consulate in your country or the immigration office at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu must issue each client with a valid visa with a six-month validity from the date of return.

Meals and Drinking Water:

In popular trekking regions such as Annapurna, Everest, Langtang, and Manaslu, there is a menu system with various ethnic cuisines foods as well as western meals, but some locations provide you with typical Nepali meals which are different from international meals, and these meals are prepared by the local supplement, every tourist lodge and tea house has a well-trained cook who focuses on clean, hygienic, fresh, and delicious foods, and every lodge has safe drinking water or mineral water.
