Detailed itinerary to reach base camp by trekking

The trek to Everest base camp begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla Airport is the most dangerous airport in the world. Upon reaching Lukla you will have breakfast and walk towards Phakding. The next stop from Phakding is Namche Bazaar where you will rest and acclimatize yourself. You will get to see the views of mountain ranges from the bazaar. Similarly, the trek continues towards Tengboche. You can visit Tengboche Monastery, one of the most popular monasteries in Nepal. Likewise, the next day you will trek to Dingboche. It is a beautiful village to rest for the further trek.

The next part of the trek exciting one. You will reach base camp leaving Lobuche behind. To enjoy the 360-degree views of Mt. Everest you will trek to Gorakshep. After exploring Gorakshep you will head towards base camp and enjoy some time over there. Similarly, the trek will lead you to Kalapathhar to enjoy the sunrise in the early morning. Then you will trek back to Namche Bazaar via Pheriche. From Namche Bazaar again you will trek down back to Lukla for a flight to Kathmandu.

Accommodations in Everest

Tea houses are the normal accommodation during the trek. The facilities differ from place to place. The tea houses are likely to be simple and comfortable. Most of the tea houses offer twin-sharing rooms. Upon request somehow we can manage the single room. Rooms are wide with one window and sharing bathrooms. Bed facilities include a pillow, sheets, and a blanket. However, we suggest you use your sleeping bags. There are charging points to charge your mobile or camera. But, you have to pay around USD 2-5 per hour. Similarly, in some tea houses, you can find a hot shower. As you go higher you can only get hot water in the pot.

If you want to know the quality of food during the trek, you don’t have to worry. You will get typical Nepalese meals during the trek. Meals include Nepali Dal-Bhat, fried rice, momos, soups, and other continental dishes. However, the more you trek higher the cost of meals will increase. You can set a price of USD 25-30 per day for meals that include Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. The most popular meals for breakfast are Oats and porridge, fried potatoes, chapati, tea, etc. Similarly, for lunch and dinner, there are many options. You can have Nepali Dal Bhat with boiled lentils, curries, and pickles. Apart from Dal Bhat, you can enjoy dishes like pasta, fried rice, noodles, momos, etc.

Costs for Everest Base Camp Trek

There is no actual fixed price for Everest Base Camp Trek. It depends on which type of trek you want to do, the service you want, the route, the packages, etc. Normally, the trip would cost anywhere between USD 1400 to USD 3500. You will get the service according to the budget you want to spend. If you want to trek to base camp and return by helicopter price may go up to USD 4500.
